News from the studio: March ‘25

The eagle-eyed among you will notice that there is no post from February, not because there was no news from the studio but simply because we’ve been incredibly busy and frankly I cannot face dredging the depths of my memory to write a post retrospectively! We’ve been beavering away planning and writing new courses whilst continuing to run through our schedule of SketchUp, Vectorworks and Photoshop courses, alongside creating content for you guys including launching our new YouTube channel.

We’ve also taken this year’s intake of students at the London College of Garden Design through all of their taught Vectorworks sessions, a role we took over from Vectorworks UK last year. They’ve really picked it up quickly and are producing some excellent quality work using it - something that’s incredibly pleasing for us to see, and no mean feat given the workload of the course.

The other thing that’s been a factor in our Mad March is that Emily runs (and has done for many years) a project planting for Google (in conjunction with the absolutely incredible team at Brandfuel) at the MWC trade show in Barcelona. This is a huge amount of work and involves sourcing plants, compost, decorative rocks and gravel mulch from Spain, then sorting a team of people to get over there and plant everything on site at the Fira exhibition Centre just outside the city. Because Fiona goes along to plant (along with some other DL friends including Humaira Ikram and Jamie Langlands and our pals Ruth and James at Ray of Soap) it knocks out a fair bit of time out of the month! Coming up in April is more course planning, in particular two free courses we’re putting out. One will be a deep dive into materials in SketchUp and the other will teach you how to create your own title blocks in Vectorworks (something that, I’m not going to lie, even I have put off doing as it seemed like such a faff!). We continue to put up regular videos on our YouTube channel which you can check out here. All subscriptions appreciated as they really help boost our visibility on YouTube.
